Hello,

This last weekend, on Saturday morning, I drove to my dad’s house to pick up a mountain bike for my school. I saw this dude walking on the side of the road on CR 28 near CR 17 (one of the main roads where I live). I didn’t think much about it at the time but after a couple of hours went by, I was coming from my dad’s and he was taking a break on CR 17, on an overpass. I think God was speaking to me because I was compelled to pull over and ask him where he was going. He told me he was heading to Bristol near I-80. That’s when it clicked in my head that he was heading South where Bristol was North. He was heading the wrong way. So I gave him a ride because it’s the least I could after I just saw him walk six miles.

We hopped into my truck and started driving. I asked him if he had a car. It shocked me but he said he had a truck but it was taken because his identity was stolen. He gave me his background and he is an US army Veteran and lives in Tennessee. He used to live in Bristol, Indiana and was here the government was sending his mail. I was so happy that I listened and pulled over to help him.

I know this sounds weird but I never asked for his name and he never asked for mine. We just had respect for each other and are one of the coolest people I’ve ever met in my entire life. I’ve said this about me but it’s my goal in life to help others, travel the world, and try new foods.

Christ was telling me to help him, but you could also take this as I’m just that nice of a person. Take that as you will. What’s important here is that there’s not enough kindness in the world and people should help each other out. Not based on their ethnicity or sexuality but because a person is in need. Also, I know there are people in this world that try to take advantage of good deeds but he wasn’t asking for help. I reached out to give him a helping hand. Say what you want, I should be more careful but I don’t care about that. If I can help someone, that’s all that matters, and I thank God for keeping me safe and putting me in situations where I can help.

I end this with a bible verse.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

  1. Josiah! I’m so pumped to see you having a great adventure, and listening to the Holy Spirit! I pray that on your journey God will continue to lead you even in times when things don’t make sense. I pray that your feet would always be anchored on the rock that is Jesus Christ. So awesome to see you empowered for the kingdom! May the lord keep you.
